The Power of Coupons & Buy-One-Get-One Free Sales

Published by rdeos at 11:15 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I love a good sale, and I love when groceries and pharmacies offer “Buy-One-Get-One-Free” (BOGO) sales.

Did you know that on a BOGO sale, you can use two coupons, one for each item in the sale? It gets even better. Depending on where you live, supermarkets still offer double or triple coupon offers, typically for coupons up to 50 or 60 cents.  When coupons are used during BOGO sales, the savings is tremendous.

Here’s an example. Your supermarket offers double coupons up to 50 cents, and is having a BOGO sale on your kids favorite cereal. The retail price of the cereal is $3.29 per box. This week they are having a BOGO sale on that particular cereal. Here’s how it breaks down:

Retail price of cereal is $3.29

2 boxes of cereal are now $3.29

You can use two 50 cent coupons since you are buying two items, so you are saving $1 right there.

Your supermarket doubles the value of that coupon, bringing the value of that coupon to $1 each, and since you are using two coupons, you coupon savings is now $2.

Your cereal, which originally was $3.29 is now $1.29 for two boxes, and breaks down to 65 cents a box!!!!!!! And that is just the beginning.

There are many more ways to save, including rebates. And if you thought rebates were a pain, you haven’t tried them in awhile. Since companies have gone online, and began to offer gift cards, there is very little mail-in rebates. Many are instant and electronic, meaning you get a refund or credit to the store without the hassles of mailing in a form just to get back a buck or two.

As this blog develops, I will not only be offering tips on how to save with coupons, but also offering specific weekly strategies for large chain stores that take advantage of their weekly sales and coupons, and in many cases, put free items in your cart. In some cases, you will actually walk out of the store with an extra dollar or two more than you walked in with.
